Welcome to Join the Department of Automation in Shanghai Jiao Tong University

The Department of Automation of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is to contribute Control Science and Engineering and is hosting the Key Laboratory of System Control and Information Processing, Ministry of Education. The Department is now an important research center in China for control theory of complex systems, process control and optimization, intelligent robotics, pattern recognition, bio-information, intelligent traffic system, etc.

 

The Department is recruiting for academic positions (tenured and tenure-track). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse group of scholars, including foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, IEEE Fellows, and IFAC Fellows.

 

 

Research fields (not limited to): Complex Systems and Control Theory, Analysis and Control of Complex Networks, Cyber-Physical Systems, Industrial Process Control and Optimization, Intelligent Robots, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Mobile Autonomous Systems, Intelligent Networks and Collaborative Control, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Medical Image Processing, Computer Vision, Bioinformatics, Aerospace Control and Information Processing, Human-Machine-Environment Intelligent Systems, Remote Sensing and Information Processing, Quantum Information and Quantum Control, etc.

 

  1. The Thousand Talents Program for Innovative Talents (Long-term & Short-term)

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicants should be under the age of 55 and hold full professor positions (or equivalent) in world-class universities or renowned research institute overseas;
  2. Applicants should carry out world-class research with influential papers /important academic awards/ high international academic reputation.

2The Thousand Talents Program for Young Professionals

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicants should be under the age of 40 and hold doctorate of world-class universities;
  2. Applicants should carry out innovative research in academic frontiers and have acquired important achievements with strong academic potentials;
  3. Applicants should have over 3 consecutive years’ academic work experience in world-class universities or renowned institutions overseas. (For those outstanding scholars who have obtained a doctorate overseas, the requirement on overseas work experience could be reduced);
  4. Successful applicants are required to work full-time in China.

3Chair ProfessorTenured Position

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Overseas applicants should hold tenured full professor positions (or equivalent) in world-class universities or research institutes. Overseas applicants are required to be familiar with China and have close collaborations with Chinese universities.
  2. Domestic applicants should hold full professor positions (or equivalent) in top universities and have profound academic achievements with high international academic reputation;
  3. Applicants should have international view and perceptiveness on the discipline development.

4Distinguished ProfessorTenured Position

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Overseas applicants should hold tenured professor positions (or equivalent) in world-class international universities or research institutes. Overseas applicants are required to be familiar with China and have collaborations with Chinese universities.
  2. Domestic applicants should have good academic backgrounds, high academic achievements and good international academic reputations; applicants are generally required to be founded by National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars or to be selected as Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor;
  3. Applicants should have innovative and strategic thinking on the discipline and have the ability of leading the discipline to the top level in the world;
  4. Applicants should be in the spirit of cooperation, hardworking, dedication and organization. Applicants should be good at training young talents, establishing rational group, and pay leading an innovative team with collaborative research.

5Tenured Professor

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicants should hold professor positions (or equivalent) in well-known domestic universities or associate professor positions (or equivalent) in top overseas universities;
  2. Applicants should be active in academic with significant achievements and have great potential for further development and have innovative ideas in academic research;
  3. Applicants should be moral, rigorous, and in the spirit of dedication and teamwork.

6Tenured Associate Professor

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicants should hold associate professor positions (or equivalent) at high level universities;
  2. Applicants should be active in academic with significant achievements;
  3. Applicants should have great potential for development and have innovative ideas in academic research;
  4. Applicants should be moral, rigorous, and in the spirit of dedication and teamwork.

7Tenure-Track Associate Professor

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicant should hold doctorate of world-class universities;
  2. Overseas applicants should have academic work experience in world-class universities or renowned institutions. Domestic applicants should hold deputy senior positions;
  3. Applicants should carry out innovative research in academic frontiers, acquire important achievements and display strong academic potentials;
  4. Applicants should have clear future research directions that coincide with the need of the discipline and the faculty team.

8Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicants should hold doctorate of famous universities or research institutes;
  2. Applicants should carry out innovative research in academic frontiers and display strong academic potentials;
  3. Applicants should have over one year’s academic work experience in world-class universities or renowned institutions overseas. (For those outstanding scholars who have obtained a doctorate overseas, the requirement on overseas work experience could be reduced);
  1. Full-Time Researchers

Recruitment requirements:

  1. Applicants should hold doctorate of famous universities or research institutes;
  2. Applicants should have good academic backgrounds, strong academic potentials and good teamwork capability ;
  1. Postdoctoral Researcher
  1. Applicants should be under the age of 35 and have obtained their doctor's degrees in the last two years in general. Applicants should have good academic performances and good health conditions;
  2. Successful applicants are required to work full-time as postdoctoral researchers for at least 3 years. The first contract period can be up to 4 years and the entire period can be up to 6 years.
